NSW Council Elections
NSW Council elections are 14 September 2024 and although Council may tell you that decisions to do with offshore wind projects are the responsibility of the federal government, Councillors may have a position and can vote on the project.
This was evidenced in a Wollongong Council Meeting in 2023 where Wollongong Council voted in favour of the proposal and submitted their support to the federal government,
What You Can Do?
We encourage you to write to Councillors who support or who are sitting on the fence about this offshore wind proposal and express to them your concern about the proposal and their position on it.
We expect that where Councillors are receiving multiple letters, this may highlight that it is an area that they should research. We have included a letter that you may choose to use and personalise as your own highlighting your concerns.
We strongly suggest that you make changes to the letter and make it personal. Targeted campaigns that all say the same thing may be quickly disregarded by the government and on the basis of experience, they will say that bots completed them if large numbers of the same letter are received.
Which Councillors to Contact?
We intend to update this page when credible information becomes available of the position of Council Nominees who are aligned to our position on the offshore wind proposal.
The contact details of all current councillors can be found via the following links.

Federal and State Politicians
You may also choose to contact federal and state politicians by email, letter, phone or through a meeting to highlight your concerns. Remember we have a federal election coming up and our current politicians need to clearly hear the concerns we have – rather than dismissing them which has been the practice of our current Labor MPs.
You can use the same letter we provided above for Councillors. We encourage you to make this your own by personalising it. Targeted campaigns that all say the same thing may be quickly disregarded by the government and on the basis of experience, they will say that bots completed them if large numbers of the same letter are received.
